Donna Showalter Obituary

Donna J. Showalter

December 28, 1940         February 27, 2018

Donna J. Showalter, 77, Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon at The Village of Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.

She was born in Williamsburg, daughter of the late Garfield Hall and Geneva May (Treese) Showalter.

Donna is survived by three sisters: Delores R. Weyant, Janet Suter, and G. Kay Clabaugh; and a brother, Brian K.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: D. Arlene Leamer, Beverly Fay Frye-Snyder and Sandra L. Hunter; two brothers: G. Curtis and L. Kent; and her beloved dogs, Buster Brown, Buddy, Annie and Abbie.

Donna was a 1958 graduate of Williamsburg High School and in 1962, received a certificate in Business Machines from Altoona School of Commerce through their night school courses.  In 1980, Donna received the Honor Award for Highest Grade Average and Perfect Attendance for the Nurse’s Aide Course from Altoona Vo-Tech.  In 1986-87, she completed the Practical Nurse Training program at Altoona Vo-Tech, and received her LPN license in 1987.

Donna was employed at the Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg for over 20 years and truly loved taking care of the elderly.  Donna also served as the tax collector for Williamsburg borough for 47 years.  She enjoyed her relationship with the tax payers, working with figures and keeping records, doing it all without a computer!!!

She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, Williamsburg, and in her younger days taught in the nursery and sang in the church choir.

Donna loved harmonizing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines, Altoona chapter, from 1964-1981.   She adored animals and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing the piano, solving word games and walking her dogs.

She was extremely grateful and thankful to her brother, Brian K. Showalter, for caring and helping in her times of need.

At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing or services. Private interment will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
